The Saudi Railway Company (SAR) operates the largest railway network in the Arabian Peninsula, connecting major cities across the Kingdom. The organisation's performance management team engaged Real Hands-On to build data analysis capability, enabling them to move from manual reporting to insight-driven performance management.
Programme Customisation
The Certified Data Analysis Professional programme was customised with railway-sector data throughout: on-time performance analysis, asset maintenance scheduling, passenger flow modelling, and safety incident analysis. Using SAR's own data patterns as case study material dramatically accelerated participant engagement and practical application.
Day One: Data Foundations
Day one covered the complete data analysis cycle, data quality management, and principles of structured data collection for operational performance measurement. Participants worked with anonymised SAR operational data sets to identify data quality issues and design data collection protocols.
Day Two: Analysis Methods
Day two focused on statistical analysis: descriptive statistics for performance reporting, trend analysis for forecasting, root cause analysis for operational problems, and comparative benchmarking against international railway operators.
Day Three: Dashboard Design
Day three delivered hands-on Power BI training, with each participant building a live operations performance dashboard. The dashboards incorporated on-time performance, asset utilisation, safety KPIs, and passenger satisfaction — all with drill-down capability to network segment level.
Real Hands-On provides post-programme support for three months after the certification — ensuring participants successfully deploy their new skills in their live work environment.
