Balanced Scorecard Implementation for Saudi German Hospital Group
Real Hands-On delivered an in-house Balanced Scorecard Professional programme for the Saudi German Hospital Group management team, equipping 28 directors and department heads with the tools to build and cascade a healthcare BSC across the group.
Saudi German Hospital Group is one of the largest private hospital groups in the MENA region, with facilities across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. The group's leadership engaged Real Hands-On to build internal BSC capability across their senior management team β moving from ad hoc performance reporting to a structured, cascaded strategy execution system.
Programme Design
The three-day in-house programme was customised for the healthcare context. Day one focused on strategy map design for a multi-site hospital group: defining strategic objectives across the four BSC perspectives β Financial Performance, Patient & Community Value, Clinical and Operational Excellence, and Learning & Innovation. The group's own strategic priorities were used as the working material throughout.
Strategy Map Workshop
The most intensive session was the half-day strategy map workshop on day two. Participants worked in cross-functional teams to map cause-and-effect relationships across their four perspectives. The resulting strategy map β refined through facilitated debate and challenge β became the group's first formally agreed strategic architecture.
KPI Design and Cascade
Day three focused on KPI design: for each of 24 strategic objectives on the map, teams designed 2β3 KPIs using the KPI card methodology. Particular attention was given to clinical quality KPIs and to distinguishing outcome KPIs from process KPIs across the operational perspective.
The strategy map session was the most productive three hours our management team has spent together in years. We finally have an agreed picture of where we are trying to go.
The programme was delivered entirely in Arabic and English, with bilingual materials throughout. All templates and KPI Dictionaries were provided in both languages for deployment across the group's international facilities.
